[Q] Galaxy Note N7000 GSM signal quality/call drop issue

Hi there,

Greetings...
I've been facing call drop issue on my Galaxy Note-1 (GT-N7000) handset which is 3+ years old. The phone is running on gellybean (4.1.2) from the past one year. The call quality drops periodically and the call drop off sometimes irrespective of an inbound or outbound call. GSM signal strength level is good all the time. I've removed the existing sim (A) and used it on another Sony handset, no issue found. Then I loaded another Telco provider sim (B) on the N7000 handset and no issue found. I took a 3rd sim of same telco (A) and tested on N7000 handset; resulted as negative. So, its proven that sim (A) provider has issue with my N7000 handset all the time; at the same time sim (A) works fine on other Android/Symbian phones! I did all these testing after booting the phone in 'safe mode' so that the other installed Apps will be suppressed. One thing is confirmed that the issue happens only when sim (A) and this N7000 handset are in combination. I suspect the issue could be with the phone OS or hardware. Also sometimes I get message on the screen as 'Not registered on network' error message upon trying to dial a number.
Is this a known trouble....can someone assist me to isolate the trouble?

Telco provider is not much assisting me as of now. so I'm thinking to give a factory reset to the phone and check next. Or else, upgrade the phone to Kitkat at Samsung service center and then observe. Kindly assist.

Regards,
SV
