anyone lost ability to camera focus after upgrading to CM?

I moved to CM11 from the stock rom, and now all the camera apps I had no problem with cannot seem to focus properly. While they were previously very sharp when I touch to focus on an area, now the best I can get is a soft image.
The camera apps I installed were the first things to go into a clean install of CM11. I'm using focal and lgcamcorder. both have the same problem.
Did anyone else encounter this?
