Screen problem from within USPS app / scanner

Tried to use the label scanner from within the post office USPS app today and the screen just went crazy. This app works without this happening on my galaxy nexus, and I'm able to successfully use a similar scanner in the UPS app with this phone. Not sure if this indicates a problem with this phone, or just some incompatibility with the app. Any ideas?
